Tina came to us earlier this year wanting to learn more about Nordic Walking due to it’s ability to relieve pressure on the joints, she also has asthma and lipodemia which puts strain on her system too. In the pouring rain and the cold temperatures she braved her Taster session and went on to become a full member of Walx Coast and Country. Back then Tina was unable to walk up hills or walk very far without pausing but with the poles, a bit of persuasion and steady progression she saw great progress. When Lockdown happened Tina was worried that her newly gained fitness would be hampered when she had to shield. Walx Coast and Country put on fitness sessions 6 days per week to help everyone maintain their strength, cardio, flexibility and balance – Tina attended every single one of them and met members from further afield as Zoom brought them together. When Lockdown eased and she was able to walk again she conquered hills and terrain that she did not think possible when she first started.
She has proved to be a woman of indomitable spirit and is now a Walx Leader in East Grinstead.
