fia choice 2 websizeIf you fancy taking up Nordic Walking In 2014 – here are some tips about how to choose the right Instructor for you.

Nordic Walking UK have trained over 2,500 Instructors and they offer a variety of sessions from wellbeing to high intensity circuits. Before joining into any regular walks it is ESSENTIAL that you learn the basic technique from a skilled Instructor who should have a minimum level 2 fitness qualification and be accredited by Nordic Walking UK.( the only training body in the UK endorsed by REPs – Register of exercise professionals) Pop your postcode in to this INSTRUCTOR SEARCH to find those nearest to you – the icons on the map will help you to see the locations that they teach in.NW acc Instructor

Most Instructors will offer tuition via a structured course to ensure they get the level right for you  – they will really help you to master how to get the most from a pair of poles because they will assess your posture, fitness levels and personal goals as well as teach you the technique.

Once you have experienced the propulsion, lightness on your feet and sheer joy of working the whole body with every step, you will want to join into regular sociable walks with your local groups. Whilst most Instructors offer a variety of routes and levels, some do specialize in rehabilitation, weight loss or even ski fitness so take time to chat through what you are looking for.

Nordic Walking provides fast results and gives you to opportunity to explore beautiful locations that are on your doorstep. Add to that the chance to join in with others who walk at the same pace and hey presto!…..exercising becomes enjoyable and addictive!

If you do not find what you are looking for in your area – e mail us at Nordic Walking UK and we can let you know if we have any trainee Instructors in your area who may be launching soon.

Instructors will generally supply the poles so all you will need to do is to wear appropriate clothing for the weather on the day and a pair of sturdy flexible soled shoes or trainers. Enjoy!
