Technique refresher courses for NWUK Instructors
All the signs are pointing to a bumper year for Nordic Walking Instructors but are you fully equipped to deal with what the public really want?
People are clearly voting with their feet and choosing Nordic Walking as a way to get more active which is great, BUT are you confident you have the skills to ensure they are working at an intensity that matches their health and fitness levels? Do you have a good enough understanding of the body and how it moves and can you prescribe safe, effective progression to make sure they achieve their goals?
All of these skills are vital if you want to maximise how you deliver Nordic Walking and be part of the drive to get Britain active.
Nordic Walking UK has upgraded the training provided to Instructors massively over the past 2 years and are delighted to announce that our CYQ courses provide direct access to the Register of Exercise professionals for those Instructors who were not previously fitness qualified.
In addition our NEW EXERCISE REFERRAL qualification provides an in depth look at the most common health issues (diabetes, obesity, hypertension etc.) and equips the Instructor to understand how the condition and any medication might affect the type & intensity of exercise prescribed. As a large percentage of people who are now attending Nordic Walking sessions may fall into this category, we feel it’s important to help our Instructors to provide safe and effective solutions.
If you did your Instructor training prior to 2009 and are not a qualified fitness professional you might want to get in touch with our team to chat through how you can update your skills or maybe pop along to meet us at one of our:-
